Wednesday, August 27, 2003

today is wednesday 27 august 2003.

yesterday was back to school retreat.

dodger report: let's not talk about the last whipping via the 'stros. it was ugly.

john smoltz has tendinitis and is on the dl. hence the strange meeting from friday makes some sense.

if you're planning to visit hawaii, don't plan on riding mass transit. the bus is on strike.

got the "l" done in my class.

aside from that, nothing really going on.

Monday, August 25, 2003

today is monday 25 august 2003.

bad news folks. school starts tomorrow.

adventure of the day: getting glasses adjusted. so last week i get a new set of glasses. one side is loose, so i go back to try to get it adjusted. in the process of turning a screw, the lady scratches the lens. so she tells me to come back in a couple of hours so she can get a new lens made. so i come back, and another lady notices the screw is still lose, but this time she hunts for a new frame (same kind) and replaces the lens. so i almost got a new set of glasses again today.

yesterday no blog. busy--but a normal church day.

if you know the rolands, you need to play with their dog. active little vicious animal. "a typical roland"--mind you, this was mrs. roland telling me this.

sister hasn't exploded yet. mom kinda wishes she would. mom's remark "sister is so grouchy. poor rich (her husband). we grew up with sister, so we knew what she was like--he married her."

nearing the end of the month so i had to use my chick-fil-a coupon.

new class for high school is apologetics--basically a doctrines class with a lot more attitude. hit all the controversial topics concerning life: drinking, smoking, crack, body piercing, tatoos, movies, death sentences . . . you name it, i'll probably get in trouble for teaching in. if you have any hot topics, let me know.

dodgers lost the series to the streaking mets. almost makes me want to follow some other pennant race--the a's/mariner's race is getting tight--too bad the a's lost their pitching (mulder and hudson out).

someone please explain to me what a pierogie is.

Saturday, August 23, 2003

today is saturday 23 august 2003.

braves killed rox last night. grievous night--game went slow, and chipper's home run was by no means a chip shot (hit the third deck--kinda freaks you out when larry walker and preston wilson don't even move). sheffield got tossed pretty quick in the first. so did bobby cox. and there were way too many braves fans there.

it's the bottom of the ninth, the braves are up 9-3, smoltz on the mound. the count is full with two outs. someone explain to me why there's a meeting on the mound, and then owens of the braves starts throwing in the bullpen?

statehood day this week in the homeland. big event--something the mainlanders don't get.

melvinistic word i haven't heard in a while--pierogie. it was a form of greeting at the dining common for a while. "hey chief, when we going out for some pierogies?" to tell you the truth, i still really don't have a clue what a pierogie is, though i've had it a few times. if anyone knows of a pierogie place here in denver, let me know.

dodger report: la times reports gagne is ready to pitch every day if need be for the rest of the season. blue men are within striking range of the wild card--3 as of today with about 5 weeks to go. with last night's curious smoltz meeting, i kinda wonder if smoltz is hurt. then gagne can indeed lead the world in saves--and have a fighting shot at the cy young.

and yes, i hate to tell you detroit fans that perhaps contraction was something to consider earlier this year. one hundred and twenty losses come the end of september is a statistical reality.

Friday, August 22, 2003

today is friday 22 august 2003.

i'll actually blog today: topic of blog--the atlanta braves. one of three teams i absolutely hate comes to denver!

why do i hate the braves 1) atlanta fans only the players that show up on milk cartons. 2) traitors like don sutton who do play-by-play. 3) skip carey. 4) jones. 5) the other jones. 6) javier lopez. 7) vinny castilla. 8) greg maddux. 9) john smoltz. 10) raphael furcal. 11) gary sheffield12) i hate the braves and i've already named half the team--let's seen if anyone from atlanta can do that!

topic came up this morning--how do you handle trades with the braves. let's blog about some. sheffield is a good example. he was a dodger, and then he became a brave. so we already hate him--not only because that he was a former dodger, and not only because he is a current brave, but simply because he's a punk.

now what happens to former braves who go elsewhere. let's talk about one, say tom glavine who used to be a former brave and is now current new york met. there is some hope, but because he is a met that hope is lost.

let's go back to the sheffield trade--the dodgers got brian jordan and odalis perez. bj hasn't played for half a season. he's o.k. as long as he's on the dodger roster--but once he goes to free agency, we hate him because he's a former brave, and worse a former dodger, but maybe not a punk like sheffield.

don't get me wrong, sheffield's a punk, but not an idiot like raul mondesi--who opens his mouth and gets himself in trouble. i don't get--the yanks are headed to the post-season and mondesi lips off to joe torre. mondesi should have been sent to detroit.

dodgers also got od perez for sheffield. now let's just say od is a dodger in good standing right now. od is fully redeemed because he is contributing to the dodgers--he shoots his mouth off a little bit, but not as bad as mondesi.

what is worse than being a former dodger or a current brave? i thought of one this afternoon--a former dodger who is now a current san fran giant is much worse! if they excel as giants, then it is just painful. i'm not going to mention names but m _ r q _ S g r _ s s _ m comes to mind--much pain because he hits in front of bonds.

dodgers host the mets tonight. i'll be at coors hoping to see maddux get creamed.

Thursday, August 21, 2003

today is thursday 21 august 2003.

nothing new. if you don't like negative blogs, wait until tomorrow.

i hate it when people send e-mail with high importance. what is really so important that i have to read--will i die if i don't?

i hate it when t-mobile alerts don't work.

angels are dying. eckstein and glauss on dl. soon anderson, salmon, the speizio will be on the list.

aside from that. dodgers won today 2-1. beltre won it for the blue men last night with a walk-off homerun.

Tuesday, August 19, 2003

today is still tcheusday 19 august 2003.

more blogs--half the fun of blogging is seeing which ads pop up in the banner above . . . so i'm just going to add random words to throw this all off.

iraq excite settings microsoft vanilla pepsi webster fortune city chinese food imation clock dell toshiba chair gagne dodgers hate the braves and the giants spam spam spam spam spam toyota corolla
today is tcheusday 19 august 2003.

nothing really going on. more in-service stuff. getting stuff ready for school.

in hawaii, nothing really going on. big news is air canada jet enroute to australia blew out a tire on take-off. people not real happy with that.

in the dodger world, nothing really going on, especially the ninth inning these days. gagne pretty much automatic to kill any late-game heroics by opposition--and he's in line for a cy young! red hot expos tonight--perhaps they'll hit a brown-out.

Monday, August 18, 2003

today is monday 18 august 2003.

another start of a school year. in-service started today. getting all the little stuff ready for another start--perhaps i'll get inspired and redo everything i've done in the past--i'll have to wait and see.

dodgers shut out cubbies last night. today an off-night and tomorrow the expos are in the city of angels.

Sunday, August 17, 2003

today is sunday 17 august 2003.

a typical sunday. went to church. went to sleep. went to church. went somewhere to get something to eat--tonight a new york type deli on colorado boulevard. beside that, nothing really going on.

rockies getting killed in the big apple.

dodgers and nomo never let a cubbie cross home plate today. expos come to the city of angels tuesday--they'll wish they were back in montreal (or puerto rico, wherever they call home) when they face brown.

why do some people always send e-mail with the high-priority setting on? i'm tempted to fix that. 8-)

Saturday, August 16, 2003

today is saturday 16 august 2003.

actually a somewhat busy day. went to bk's birthday party last night, then to all-night prayer meeting. stayed until 2, then went home to get some sleep. then woke up for passenger van training--thrilling. then went around looking at computer stuff--power goes out at one place, so it was pretty trippy.

hadji calls and we talk for a while. he tells me he's watching the dodgers killing the cubs. od perez gets out of the game--so i tell hadj that mota's pitching next. he's a little surprised--i'm not even watching the game, and i'm able to call the shots! the dodgers don't have a chance in the wild card, but i still know my team! yesterday prior dominated the blue men. dodgers need to trade for prior.

red sox and mariners weren't on fox, so i'll be a little upset if the cubbies/dodgers were shown earlier than the normal 2:00 here in denver. don't tell me if it was, because then i'll be upset. mets are hosting the rockies, so i think i go to watch that now.

Friday, August 15, 2003

today is friday 15 august 2003.

nothing going on here. if you're out east, you may be in the dark. not to sound cruel, but us islanders used to go through blackouts all the time--all it means is dodgers won't be on t.v., and you'll have to barbeque with your dog watching you the whole time. and usually, it's kinda windy and rainy. actually really windy really rainy, if you know what i'm saying. 8-0

busy weekend here--or else would have gone up to chi-town to see the cubbies play. didn't work out this time--buddy from chi-town calls, and we talk baseball last night. still gets me how d-back mondesi shoots his mouth off for supposed being a dominican and a victim.

dodger report: ashby down with flu. kida of the dodgers gets the horrible draw of mark prior of the cubbies. welcome to the american major leagues.

Thursday, August 14, 2003

today is still thursday 14 august 2003.

second blog . . . some have commented previous blogs too depressing. dodgers win. so at least this one ain't.

nothing still going on.

big cat is on maui according to expert. i a saw a dead skunk on mississippi. there's construction on wadsworth. it's hot outside. i hate it when at target you see all these people buying school supplies--and you forget why you went to target in the first place.
today is thursday 14 august 2003.

early blog. i don't know what happened to yesterday's blog. but i would have blogged about nothing nonetheless.

nothing going on.

dodger report: 2 losses in extra innings. nuf said.

Tuesday, August 12, 2003

today is tuesday 12 august 2003.

nothing really going on. got to grill a little bit for lunch. white rice with furikake (seaweed flakes) is about as good as having a nice slab of meatloaf. beside that, nothing really going on.

out on the slopes of maui--big cat hunter playing sounds of a jaguar in hopes of getting high country big cat to come out--residents a little wary that big cat will play with domesticated animals, so doggies are kept inside.

honolulu advertiser reports inter-island airfares out the roof! i remember a time when inter-island round trip was $70.

dodger report: dodgers quietly making a run at wild card. got to willis yesterday. nomo tonight.

Monday, August 11, 2003

today is monday 11 august 2003.

nothing going on. even the intern had really not much going on--so we spend most of the day doing really nothing. ghetto ink in the epson printer prints fabulously. i think i go to densem today to register for class.

dodger report: dodgers got beat by sosa yesterday. two homeruns without a corked bat enough to beat kevin brown. od perez tonight against another funky lefty--dontrelle willis.
today is sunday 10 sunday 2003.

typical sunday. went to church. went to panda express. went to sleep. went to church. went to a party--hard to see one of your students leave, and everyone is not seemingly taking this well.

dodger report: dodger win streak stops at 6. mark prior of the cubbies is considered to be the next pedro martinez.

Saturday, August 09, 2003

today is saturday 09 august 2003.

early blog. normal saturday--set alarms for 5:00 a.m. and don't get up until way later. go watch this week in baseball, fox game of the week (phillies at san fran), then who knows what later. typical saturday.

going through target--what is up with vanilla pepsi?

going through sports reports--what is up with d-back raul mondesi saying the yanks hate dominicans. what is up with the other dominicans (pedro martinez) saying they're all victims?

dodger report: dodgers win 5 straight last night . . . too bad the season is lost . . .

Friday, August 08, 2003

today is friday 08 august 2003.

when was the last time the dodgers swept a series? i gave up on the blue men for this season, but i guess they're hot again. four in a row--next up the cubbies and sosa.

nothing really going on beside that. maui hired a big cat hunter. people think it's a jaguar up there.

Thursday, August 07, 2003

today is thursday 07 august 2003.

ditto the comments for the last several weeks--nothing really going on. tired today--one of the few occasions i go back to sleep after i go unlock doors.

neat story in the honolulu advertiser--dated 07 august 2003, read about barge day at molokai.

aside from nothing going on, just rearranging the classroom, doing some extra reading, and making sure my computer doesn't self toast.

Wednesday, August 06, 2003

today is wednesday 06 august 2003.

nothing going on today . . . theme of the month it seems. fallout of my interpretation of luke 11 continues. dodgers win--finally.

Tuesday, August 05, 2003

today is tuesday 05 august 2003.

nothing going on. dodgers taking news of jack clark's departure pretty tough. everyone starting to question gm dan evans. i need to stop teaching sunday school--my reinterpretation of luke 11 is starting to spread and causing many to grieve.

Monday, August 04, 2003

today is monday 04 august 2003.

nothing big happened today. went to densem library looking for books--nothing really there. reymond's systematic not real fast reading--it'll take a while. beside that, not much going on.

dodger report: jack clark the hitting instructor is now the former hitting instructor. inevitable when you're offense ain't there.

Sunday, August 03, 2003

today is sunday 03 august 2003.

wild morning so far. taught sunday school. didn't get a chance to see the paper or go through morning rituals yet. nonetheless, things are good. sunday school people freaked out on my new interpretation on luke 11--read your Bibles (in the Greek!), fit it with context--and i think my views are correct!

nuf about the dodgers--read the l.a. times, and you'll read some depressing news about the blue men . . . depressing if you're still a fan of the blue men, otherwise they tell the truth no holds barred.

Saturday, August 02, 2003

today is saturday 02 august 2003.

i guess nothing much today--early blog because i'm not expecting today to be overly exciting. rockies game will be probably wild. dodgers--let's stop talking about them for a while until there's something to talk about--i'm still a fan, but i'll conceded the season. aside from that, the d-back/cubbies game on fox doesn't make the day go any faster.

Friday, August 01, 2003

today is friday 01 august 2003.

nothing real big today. finally got something at qdoba i liked.

listened to the rockies game--how can you go into the ninth inning leading by 5 runs--and lose the game? ask the rockies, and they got beat in pittsburgh 12-11.

ask the other question--how do the dodgers expect to win when they put a bunch of zeroes up (and we're not talking just the score). lost in hotlanta 2-0.
