today is 31 october 2006.

yes, i did go to chipotle tonight . . . but not dressed as burrito though. it was pretty wild. all the high school kids were out. as far as halloween parties go, chipotle was throwing a pretty wild one.

windows media player 11 came out of beta today. so exciting this takes a line in my blog.

what i don't get is when you install stuff like winamp or firefox, things go smooth. but when you install the ms equivalents you have to restart your computer.

mlb free agency is starting . . . bonds is a free agent. and no i don't think the dodgers have any use for an aging, steroid-taking, has-been slugger. garciapara of the dodgers also is a free agent. should be interesting.

aside from that, nothing really going on.

Thursday, October 26, 2006

today is thursday 26 october 2006.

blizzard conditions here in denver. and no, we didn't get a snow day out out it. it probably did snow 6+ inches here. unfortunately only one inch stuck.

told mom about the blizzard. she wondered if it bit anyone. wait a minute--we have a blizzard, not a lizard! cell phones only so good . . .

on the web front--if you're looking for airfares, try kayak.com . . . kayak searches multiple airline/travel website. found tickets to the homeland this way. real hip

bruce bochy manager of padres is thinking of managing the giants. evil!

world series going on. go whoever.

aside from that, nothing going on.

Monday, October 23, 2006

today is monday 23 october 2006.

the tigers and cardinals . . . one big surprise--the number of former rockies . . . like belliard, preston wilson, neifi perez, gary bennett . . . had the rockies kept all these guys--maybe the rocks would make it to the world series.

maybe if the dodgers kept all their players--the dodgers could have ended up like the mets and not been beat by them.

last week ie7 came out. so exciting this takes a line in my blog.

tomorrow firefox 2 comes out. so cool that i downloaded my copy today (real thrilled that half my extensions broke) . . . oh well, didn't need them anyway. one cool feature--built in spell checker so as i blog along (like i'm doing now), it's checking my spelling as i type. hip!

turkey time is coming up. and this year, i might be thinking about doing a ham. yes indeed. why not?

first pumpkin pie friday. it was pretty hip.

and talking to my mom--our new topic of conversation is jello. so if you have a favorite jello recipe, let me know and i'll try it!

Thursday, October 19, 2006

today is thursday 19 october 2006.

yesterday i had the eight graders in class. interesting conversations . . .

one girl who is chinese kept arguing how american chinese food really isn't chinese. and she wasn't amused--so we kept listing our favorite items . . . "so sesame chicken isn't chinese"--chinese girl's reaction "no!" how about "crab cheese wontons." "no!" "what about that stuff from panda express--the orange chicken!" "no! no! no!" i think we might have insulted her with the panda express statement.

i told the class about my experience with indian food . . . how i tried this yogurt stuff that nearly burned my mouth off . . . the indian student laughed. "that's not even hot." right.

then i mentioned bul-gogi (a korean dish). the exchange student from korea said she really liked it. when her classmates asked for a description of the dish, the exchange student said "it's like beef." then i said--"no you can't say that! it is beef! it's not like beef!"

then they asked me what hawaiian food was like. so i described sticking hot lava rocks in a pig cooking it from the inside out. so i showed a picture of the pig from the hawaii reception. korean girl's reaction "nasty!" that was funny--so kim chee isn't nasty?

halloween is coming up. so get your foil ready to go to chipotle dressed as a burrito to get yourself a free burrito. my suggestion--use a first aid blanket.

the cardinals beat the mets. comes down to bottom of the ninth with bases loaded--mets down by two runs with their number three hitter at bat--to go down in on a called strike three . . .

not real thrilled either the cards or tigers--but it is the world series. and the tommy lasorda commercials compels me to watch . . .

Monday, October 16, 2006

today is monday 16 october 2006.

earthquake hit hawaii yesterday. my people on oahu felt the tremors three hundred miles away. no damage done--mom spent more time talking about a jello recipe than earthquake damage last night . . .

funny seeing the tourist fend for their own in waikiki . . . this takes a line in my blog.

the detroit tigers in the world series. still rubs me the wrong way that jimmy leland is the manager of the tigers--still annoys me that he quit the rockies because "he lost heart" . . . right.

some kid asks me today if i saw the game last night. i said of course i did--the mets obliterated the cards. that wasn't the game he was referring to (broncos/raiders is what everyone else was watching) . . . unfortunately, it's pretty bad when a first baseman scores nearly as much as the bronco recievers/kickers.

Monday, October 09, 2006

today is 09 october 2006.

tonight it might snow . . . so exciting this takes a line in my blog.

last night i thought i was going to come home from church, and watch the dodgers. but alas the blue men ran out of miracles--as well has hits, runs, and pitching . . . next year, they'll take third. if they ever make it to the post-season, they'll never ever win again. yet another fearless prediction.

Saturday, October 07, 2006

today is saturday 07 october 2006.

teachers conference yesterday . . . actually won something. books from bob wood and thurmond wisdom. the charisian presence won $25 from hobby lobby (though she wasn't there) . . . and last but not least--a sandisk sansa 2 gb mp3 player. everyone thought i already had a device like that--funny the looks i got when i told people that an mp3 player is something i didn't have.

embarrased to admit it took nearly an hour and a half to get it connected to meatloaf--i think it's the windows media player 11 beta that was giving fits . . . and then i have to go back and fix all the id tags--not fun.

fearless prediction--either the dodgers with maddux get killed later today . . . or we'll be playing until the end of the world series . . .

Thursday, October 05, 2006

today is thursday 05 october 2006.

xubuntu finally runs as a virtual machine in meatloaf my win xp machine. i would switch electron to use xubuntu--but i'm too much of a chicken . . . a machine that is running fine should remain a machine that runs fine. suse 10.1 seems to be much, much more complex than any flavour of ubuntu. plus i don't know if i can get ndiswrapper to work. or samba. or firefox for that matter.

the dodgers are in new york . . . another loss. the streaky dodgers are again losing--after winning seven to finish the season. so who knows--maybe they'll come back to win the next three--or they're really cursed and they'll never ever win another post-season game again.
