today is thursday 30 september 2004.

what i don't get is Christmas retailing . . . yes, i'm all for getting started early--but it is september . . . can't we wait a month. or two?

what can't wait is the dodger post-season. if you told me that the dodger were going to take the division, i would laugh. actually, i'm still hoping the blue men don't self-toast. a dodger win with a giant loss will mean playing in october.

and them cubbies are cursed. cursed, i tell you. this year in the form of cincinnati red austin kearns who won the game for the reds and in turn broke the hearts of cubbies fans. i tell you they are cursed.

the other cursed team--the red sox--fox sports says they have a chance. we'll see.

and the giants--i hope the same fan(s) who threw the bottle at milton bradley will get to bonds.

today is tuesday 28 september 2004.

almost ran over a racoon last night. so exciting this takes a line in my blog.

mom and dad got back from san diego on sunday. orbit is a fatter dog.

had a mcflurry last night. so exciting this takes a line in my blog.

dodgers return back to los angeles yesterday. the rockies were up 7-5 in the eighth. then the rokies bullpen happened. dodgers win 8-7.

which i must say, makes things interesting. the dodgers could take the division. i say could--because even hadji commented losing may be their lot in life. but the l.a. times did say that the dodgers need to win 3 of the remaining 6, and the giants have to win all of their remaining six in order for the division to be tied.

but who knows? the dodgers could lose all six, the giants will all six, and the dodgers let another season slip away. then it was all depodesta's fault, and i go back to cheering for the angels.

today is thursday 23 september 2004.

turned in project for d.min. class yesterday. so exciting it takes a line in my blog.

got an emissions test yesteray. so exciting takes another line in my blog.

now hadji's going to hate me for this--11 games to go and the dodgers are ready to self-toast. two straight losses to san diego, and san fran wins two in houston. the dodgers are only a half game up. 11 games ago they were 5 games up . . . excruciating seeing the season vanish before my eyes . . . but what else is new . . .

Saturday, September 18, 2004

today is 18 september 2004.

nice weather out--dodgers are in town, but i actually didn't go. paper is priority. and they lost anyway.

last night though, what a game! ten innings--ceasar izturis shot to the top of the wall! gagne is an animal! 6-1 rocks after two innings, yet the dodgers battle back! and the dodger bullpen--nuts!

a few observations about baseball games . . . i hate it when drunk guys come and talk to you. they have nothing to say. and what they do say makes no sense. go away--i'm watching a game.

and dinger--the stupid purple dinosaur who claims to be the rockies mascot. no sense. just go away--i'm watching a game.

and people who want to start a wave. they make no sense. go away--i'm watching a game.

dollar dog days. not real exciting--but would be cool perhaps if that didn't go away.

the red sox and yanks on fox today . . . real exciting though the yanks killed the sox. leiber was an animal (no-hitter to the seventh!).

actually i haven't needed to stand at the bullpen of late . . . i have seats--this was my view of the game.

by the way this is the view of the field from the bullpen.

the view from the bullpen area in coors field is great. you hang out long enough, the players and coaches start to pity you--and throw you a ball!

i used to say that people and their pets start to look and think alike . . . so what does orbit here say about me?

Thursday, September 09, 2004

today is thursday 9 september 2004.

dodgers win the bottom of the ninth. think about the trades a few weeks back--we get rid of minor leaguers to the d-backs for steve finley, and finleys on a tear. we give up loduca and encarnacion for brad penny and hee-seop choi--and the we get ripped on that part of the deal . . . weird.

florida is hating life. and hurricanes. living in hawaii as a little melvin, i kid you not--never remembering more than two hurricanes--ever. three in a little over a month is nuts.

spanish linc is muy bien. half the fun is laughing at the other teacher--but he adds humor to my class when i try to immitate him. his comments on the q--q is shy, needs u, needs friends. q needs friends . . . that's funny!

and the idea about him calling homeschool principals . . . "dad, dad, the spanish teacher is asking for the principal." . . . funny!

but he does make a lot of comments about studying a lot and cutting chess lessons. fine with me--as long as he doesn't make fun of the uke!

one more thing--revenge of the animals! this is a better idea than reverse lassie . . .

PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - A man who tried to shoot seven puppies was shot himself when one of the dogs put its paw on the revolver's trigger.

Jerry Allen Bradford, 37, was charged with felony animal cruelty, the Escambia County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday. He was being treated at a hospital for a gunshot wound to his wrist.
Bradford said he decided to shoot the 3-month-old shepherd-mix dogs in the head because he couldn't find them a home, according to the sheriff's office.

On Monday, Bradford was holding two puppies - one in his arms and another in his left hand - when the dog in his hand wiggled and put its paw on the trigger of the .38-caliber revolver. The gun then discharged, the sheriff's report said.

Deputies found three of the puppies in a shallow grave outside Bradford's home, said sheriff's Sgt. Ted Roy.

The other four appeared to be in good health and were taken by Escambia County Animal Control, which planned to make them available for adoption.

today is wednesday 09 september 2004.

fun time in san diego this weekend. party, party, party . . . eat lots of food. play with nephew and sister's vicious bulldog.

dodgers got creamed by the cardinals over the weekend. then the cards go to san diego and are in the process of getting smoked themselves. weird sport.

aside from that, nothing really going on.

Thursday, September 02, 2004

today is thursday 02 september 2004.

the back- to-school retreat becomes less fun every year. this year in particular the altitude made it no fun (9,620 feet). plus it was cold. plus i didn't have a jacket. plus i didn't have a flashlight. all adds up to a miserable time.

bj linc facilitator this year--yup, this is like the time i was a counselor for basketball camp. anyway--it's pretty exciting watching the real teacher. makes me want to start up my classes with some music, slides, photos of numbers--etc.

the dodgers hold the lead despite sub-par performance. playoff tickets went on sale . . . scary.

olympics done. so exciting, takes a line in my blog.
