Tuesday, March 30, 2004

today is tchuesday 30 march 2004. no more in a row . . . . back in denver.

los angeles international not too tense sunday as it was new year's day . . . don't need the stress. still being a los angeles dodger fan is stressful enough when our cross-town cousins in anaheim will be kicking butt this season.

seems like yankees got their butts kicked in tokyo by the other, lesser known fish.

aside from that, nothing really going on. and no haven't been to the beach, and yes orbit is still a fat dog.

Saturday, March 27, 2004

today is 27 march 2004. seven in a row!

dodger front--nothing going on. absolutely nothing going on.

so i'm watching the hawaiian moving company--they air a story about a belly flop contest over on the winward side. hurts . . . especially watching the women . . . then it's scary . . .

in response to hadji's blog--no big cats in hawaii . . . i haven't heard about the cat for a while now . . . maybe hibernating.

another thing hibernating--the dodgers . . . .

drove by the beach today. sunny. but also rained--and if you're not from hawaii that didn't make any sense. drove by matsumoto--line with 20+ people. not that i care--i wasn't go to stop anyway.

did i mention that orbit gained weight? fat dog. pit bull is all about licking . . .

Friday, March 26, 2004

today is friday 26 march 2004. six in a row . . . but tomorrow might be my last for a while.

observations from the homeland continued . . .

a lot of honda elements zipping along. also a lot of mini coopers. i hate 'em both.

parking is not a problem in honolulu--there is none. did i ever mention to you that honolulu has the density of hong kong? no wonder hawaiians are the best drivers around . . .

which brings another point about driving--i hate city driving in the rain. only thing worse is splashback . . . i hate splashback.

so dinner time rolls around, and i have to figure which eating joint i haven't hit yet: checked off shiro's, zippy's, l and l, and even yummy's. one i almost forgot--gau gee from waimalu chop suey . . .

so i go to leonard's malasada's . . . a 3/2/1 order (3 cinnamon, 2 sugar, 1 plain) and the lady doesn't get it--repeat my order at least three times. almost got to the point of drawing her a picture of what i wanted . . . but i thought about it--as much as i dislike teaching math at times, i'd rather not work at a malasada joint.

so i hit the local grocery store. fishcake i see . . . funny thing is, same location of the store. same part of the refrigerated section since i was a little melvin. same brands, same packaging. unless for the little stickers that tell you the date, i'd swear fishcakes grow on that shelf.

dodgers stink. impending doom--even dodgers.com talks about the past. pitching of the past. nothing about offense of the future.

no baseball of late.

got fellowship of the rings extended dvd. yes i know it's been out for a while. got two two towers extended dvd over Christmas. when the last one comes out--lotr marathon!

biggest scare of the week--digitizer on ipaq goes dead. for some reason, she behaves fine today. got everything restored . . . and all of sudden i get a new appreciation of what kind of armament i'm carrying.

do i'm reading hadji's blog (e-rabbi.blogspot.com) . . . he wishes he hadn't used the "grandma and soccer mom" line on me. found his blogs halfway amusing to the point i've got an avantgo channel ready for the ipaq.

and funny thing is i should tell people i'm in hawaii more--i got more e-mail, sms, instant messages, and phone calls this week than the last month.

no haven't hit the beach. it is still raining. and yes, orbit is still fat.

Thursday, March 25, 2004

today is thursday 25 march 2004. five and row . . . but don't expect this much when i return back to denver!

so i'm driving in honolulu, and to my surprise i don't find the guy selling newspapers on kalihi and nimitz . . . .

i see this guy talking at the bus stop on nimitz . . . nobody is around him--but he's pretty animated. so either 1) this guy has a cell phone 2) this guy is talking to himself. i think i'm not using my handsfree headset anymore . . . . it does look weird when people don't know what's going on.

which brings up a new "polite" way of making an exit--grab your phone, place it near your ear, and walk out the room--even if the phone isn't ringing. when you decide to come back and people ask what was the call about--just say "nothing." i do this all the time in sunday school . . . .

michelle wei doing good. "i wasn't driving good, i wasn't putting good, i wasn't playing good." yeah right.

who wasn't doing good is the hawaii basketball game . . . lost to michigan in the who cares nit tourney.

talk about another who cares tourney--but the women's ncaa basketball tourney sure doesn't incite the excitement or the office pools . . . and don't laugh at my picks!!!

no beach yet . . . and yes, my dog orbit is still fat.

Wednesday, March 24, 2004

today is wednesday 24 march 2004. four days in a row!!!

no haven't gone to the beach yet.

and i'm walking by mcdonald's and find they twist the breakfast menu a little. "extreme breakfast" is a rice, eggs, spam, and portuguese sausage. they even have a "spam mcgriddle" breakfast sandwhich. but no, no mcspam to overtake the big mac yet.

so i'm driving along in honolulu and on the corner of kalihi and nimitz there's a guy selling newspapers. nothing ordinary, except he's selling papers at half the cost--and he's yelling at the median bushes when the traffic is calm.

not that i care, but the american idols from hawaii both made it through this week.

and one more thing--did i mention that orbit is fat?

Tuesday, March 23, 2004

today is tuesday 23 march 2004. and i'm doing pretty good blogging three days in a row.

no haven't gone to the beach yet.

and the big news stories in hawaii is the univ of hawaii guys basketball advancing the in the nit tournament. who cares.

not that i care, but the two american idols from hawaii advanced last week. i guess the rest of the country has seen--but our time zone isn't inclined to know for a few more hours.

did i tell you my dog orbit gained a few pounds. fat dog.

and not to mention--it has rained since saturday. and not that the weather guys in hawaii are any help (same forecast 345 days a year--mostly sunny, some showers, highs in the 80s, lows in 70s)--anway, looks like rain for the rest of the week. you'll get more sun in colorado!

Monday, March 22, 2004

today is monday 22 march 2004.

funny thing is back in hawaii, we're 2/3/4/5 hours behind pacific/mountain/central/eastern times zones--easier to catch people by phone and instant messaging from here.

and no--i haven't gone to the beach yet. did go to sushi for lunch. did get more risky with my eating habits--and we're not talking about eating salt. let's just say, the stuff was "colorful."

uh basketball advanced in the nit tourney. who cares about the nit tourney.

which reminds me--hadji disses me via msn messenger "[win] me is for grandmas and soccer moms."

did i mention that orbit is a fat dog these days?

state of baseball depression keeps hitting new lows--i'm actually happy the dodgers were on tv this morning. even if fernando was pitching--yes, folks i was watching espn classic again. and the game was from 15 years ago when fernando had his no-hitter against the cards. and for the record--it was thrilling. simply thrilling.

the dodgers look to move loduca to first base--anemic offense along with short first baseman . . .

talking about anemic--that becomes the occasion of the diss from my venerable former assistant. anemic colors . . . what the mess does that mean, huh chief?

Sunday, March 21, 2004

today is sunday 21 march 2004.

surprise, no panda express after church. i don't go near panda express when i'm back in hawaii.

did i ever mention that orbit gained a few pounds. fat dog.

talking about fat dogs--in the sunday paper in the usa weekend. take a look at the obese bulldog. wow.

talking about the stuff going on in hawaii--michelle wei is on a tear. an no my flight thursday was from san francisco--if i came back through los angeles maybe i could've caught a flight with the american idol people.

haven't blogged about him but this dude roderick with the tennis racket. i'd hate to try to hit one of those.

in baseball depression. so i'm stuck watching espn classic. real depressing when you think those games from 20 years ago are real exciting. but the red vs. white sox game was getting testy in the ninth . . . .

Friday, March 19, 2004

today is friday 19 march 2004.

back in hawaii. nothing planned. nothing going on. even uh baseball ain't in town.

cacs yesterday. so thrilling it takes a line in my blog.

also exciting the dodgers continue their losing ways. so jamie mccourt says there's no excuse why the dodgers aren't in the playoffs, not making money, not winning. wake up and smell the losing streak--she didn't buy the angels, unfortunately.

talk about losing--don't look at my ncaa picks.

Monday, March 15, 2004

today is monday 15 march 2004. the ides of march as one shakespearean play warns.

sunday routine now adds tokyo joes. good, fast, no frills japanese bowls. may add q-doba to the mix. but not taking away panda express from the lunchtime norm. by the way, my next meal is free. 8-0

dodger report: dreifort to the bullpen. the pitching looks solid. surprise is jose lima. we may be having a lot of lima time this year.

Tuesday, March 09, 2004

today is tchuesday 09 march 2004.

ok . . . the streaky dodgers have lost three in a row after winning 4 in a row. i give up . . . go angels.

using toffee nut in my lattes. good stuff.

warm here in denver--way above 70. and no, march is not yet our snowiest month.

not that i care, but there's two hawaiians on american idol. finally the rest of the country looks up to us hawaiians . . . first we get annexed, then our kingdom gets taken away, then we get bombed, then . . . .

Saturday, March 06, 2004

today is saturday 06 march 2004.

seminary class this weekend. one student goes, "how are we supposed to figure this stuff out?" in response to one of the hermeneutics lab. prof ecklebarger--"take greek." good thing i took greek.

dodgers are showing some firepower in spring training. five games--five wins.

colorado symphony tonight. barber violin concerto and sibelius symphony #2. should be good.

Tuesday, March 02, 2004

today is tcheusday 02 march 2004.

got my free chipotle burrito today. thrilling. got steak even.

didn't go to starbucks today--the plunger pot is for sultans!!!

so jose canseco is in open try-outs for the dodgers. he stunk. you know it's gotta be a lousy season if a flop is the top story out of vero beach.

cso is peforming barber's violin concerto this week--got the cd to get ready!
