today is sunday 29 february 2004.

leap year. went to chipolte and got a coupon for a free burrito in the next week. this will work.

went to starbucks--no free coffee.

sunday--and be proud folks, i broke my pattern. didn't go to panda express. they must think i'm sick.

what is sick is those people around chavez ravine thinking this is the year. i tell you--i'm even fearing the angel-dodger series big time. and the trip to petco park in san diego is going to be ugly. real ugly.

cso saint-saens concert a month ago starting to get to me. really getting into piano concerto #5 "egyptian."

Friday, February 27, 2004

today is friday 27 february 2004.

today was elem/middle school cacs competition. thrilling. i can barely hold my excitement.

tamale kitchen down the street serves a pretty mean burrito--small compared to chipotle, but definitely not a chain like chipotle or even qdoba.

www.dodgers.com makes like the dodgers have a chance this year--i tell you folks, it's going to be real dismal this year.

back to the padres--klesko, burroughs, nevin, giles. that's your offense--the nl west is one weak division, but the padres middle has a lineup that's respectable anywhere.

ok. maybe not anywhere. the yanks are just sick--they thinking hideki matsui is hitting ninth next year. you've got to be kidding me--ninth!!! he's got 100 rbi potential!!!

aside from that, nothing going on. just reading along . . . .

Sunday, February 22, 2004

today is 22 february 2004.

so what is schwarzenegger saying about the white house? scary to have the terminator and the barbarian running our country.

don't know if i should believe weathermen here in colorado anymore. they shouldn't lie like they do--just tell us, "we don't have a clue about tomorrow's weather."

starbucks has this new guinea peaberry that's pretty smooth. they can get rid of the yukon for all it's worth.

but as far as coffee goes, nothing compares to a carribou . . .

the nl west is weak. very weak. and i tell you, give up on the dodgers while you have time!!! join our cross-town cousins i tell you!

the red sox/yankees rivalry has hit new highs or lows depending if you care or not. i actually like the rivalry . . .

Saturday, February 21, 2004

today is saturday 21 february 2004.

if you think i gave up hope on the dodgers--you need to take a peek at www.latimes.com/sports . . . the whole city gave up the blue.

talking about stupid--700 people wept as they memorialized the whale in free willy . . . .

talking about stupid--don't even get me started on whatever mess is happening in san francisco . . .

i'd love to see fox news cable right about now . . . .

on a more positive note--i think the groundhog lied. it rained again in denver today. yes, rain.

Thursday, February 19, 2004

today is thursday 19 february 2004.

i hate city driving in the rain at night. so why does this come up--because it rained today. yes rain. in february. it turned to snow a few minutes later--but i hate city driving in the rain at night.

i hate the honda element. looks dumb.

so i go to target tonight. and all i think is about a student telling me that target is full of soccer moms and single women.

i don't know if i like the blackboard idea for densem.

Monday, February 16, 2004

today is monday 15 february 2004.

president's day. no school. so i sit around and do homework.

first day of hermeneutics weekend class was trippy friday and saturday--long, but you gotta love whoever brings the lamars doughnuts in.

dodgers are sold to mccourt. maybe he can buy a bat.

talking about buying a bat--what about the yankees and a-rod? is jeter and a-rod still friends after the spat they had a few years ago. the yanks are well on the road to be a $200 million dollar team--not that steinbrenner cares. that is, unless they lose. again--but who knows? i tell you, watch the padres.

fares to the homeland are cheap. so book your trip now!

i hate doing taxes.

no snow day in the forecast for this week. first weekend in three weeks we haven't seen flakes fall from the sky.

went to the cso last, last friday. hint in life--knowing the pieces being played makes things much more enjoyable. also hint in life--not knowing where to go in boettcher hall makes finds you a seat that is also much more enjoyable.

indian restaurant on 7th and colorado opened. fast food indian is a trip--but the people from colorado health sciences college love it.

Thursday, February 05, 2004

today is thursday 05 february 2004.

no comments about the superbowl. i guess the game was worth watching--but it wasn't the talk of the night. not that i care.

no snow day. real depressing.

d.min. stuff came in . . . starting to grieve. someone's going to kill me--i went to the library and got the books (with intent to renew!).

heading north on pierce, i miss the turn west on iowa in broad daylight. at night, it's not a problem--i do this in my sleep even. but in the day--i miss it all the time. why is that?

got the gingerbread latte working. hint--add a hint of vanilla.

talking of starbucks . . . yesterday got a free cup of coffee. again. fourth time this month. girl behind the counter, "you know i see you here all the time, but i don't know your drink." buddy anthony--"he's venti coffee."

talked to people at the basketball game today. glad to keep the smiths entertained with whatever i do in class. not too appreciative of teaching the youngest the little frog technique, though.

former student asked if i've hit new lows (or highs)--"mr. c.? you're not serious are you? my sister tells me you went to the pet store to play with the puppies . . . but giving them names is too much!!!"

so this blood hound sort of dog comes at me last week. she licks my nose. it's a funny dog--drinks water from a bowl and i bet her ears will get wet. i named her "exponent." so when she goes, "ex marking the spot."

of course reminds me of a mother goose and grimm . . . dog gets former boyfriend "spot marks the ex."

Sunday, February 01, 2004

today is sunday 01 february 2004.

not that i really care, but new england won the super bowl.

kinda odd, but i've since the new year, i've got three free drinks at starbucks. "on us--coffee ain't ready, and it'll be two minutes. and we know you'll be back."

snow yesterday. but nothing like the craziness last week.

d.min. reading set to begin any second. i think the guys for the january seminars are done--so the reading lists to out this week.

got done with robert reymond's systematic theology--almost could turn me presbyterian. so the comment i hear, "what did you mean could turn you presbyterian--what where you before?"
